Description
We are tenders. Tarweed Folk School is an organization dedicated to community-based, hands-on learning of all ages. We offered our first classes in 2023 and in 2024 we are hosting three weekends of half day, full day, and multi-day classes at Greenbelt Land Trust's Bald Hill Farm, the Corvallis Waldorf School, and Highland Woodshop, taught by local educators, craftspeople, scientists, tradespeople, small business owners, and members of our Willamette Valley communities.
We see Folk Schools as a living approach to hands-on learning, emphasizing practical skills and crafts, but also — through individual and shared experience — building social connection, democracy, community, unity, equity — and joy! We see folk schools as a way to help individuals learn, to gauge their own progress according to their own needs and desires, free of grades, certificates, & external measures.
